Workers Compensation Insurance
- Under Indiana law every church must provide this coverage for any employee if you are incorporated or have employees. The fine for non-compliance is stiff, and the church would still be liable for any job-related injury sustained by any employee. Don’t try to pretend your people aren’t really employees by not withholding taxes.
- Make sure your worker’s compensation covers in all states; not just Indiana. That way an injured employee has the option of collecting higher benefits (Indiana’s benefits are much lower than most states) if the injury occurs outside the state. There is no charge for this.
