How to Plan a Successful Spring Break Trip

Before you make all of your final plans, think about these five things.

Are you planning a Spring Break trip? Before you make all of your final plans, think about these five things:

1.  What is the culture like where I am going?

If you’re traveling outside of the U.S., or to a different state, make sure you research cultural norms. In some countries, pointing with your index finger is extremely rude. Take a few moments to know what you should do, and what you shouldn’t do.

2.  Have there been any travel bans or problems recently where I am going?

If you are more on the adventurous side, you may want to go check out places like Petra, Jordan or go see Mount Everest in Nepal. But are you actually allowed to be there? If you are planning on going to a resort, what are the most recent reviews of it, have there been any riots around the resort, or civil protests? There have been several recent reports of bartenders putting certain drugs into guests drinks in certain resorts in Mexico Make sure you won’t have unwanted trouble where you are going.

3.  What is the purpose of the trip I am taking?

Are you going to the beach to relax, are you going to a city to sight see, or are you going to a resort to explore the local natural beauty? If several people in your party have different ideas of what this trip could be, it may cause some tension. Have a general understanding of what you want to do on this trip.

4.  What should I bring?

Try to think through several different scenarios when you are packing for Spring Break. Will you be in the sun a lot? If so, pack sunscreen and aloe. Are you going to be doing a lot of sightseeing? Make sure you pack some comfy shoes and plenty of clean socks. Wherever you are going, make sure you bring the appropriate items to ensure a happy and fun adventure.

5.  Should I get trip insurance?

The last part you need to think about is insurance. Do you know if the items you are taking with you are covered? Do you know how you’ll be able to leave in the event of a government problem, a hurricane, a tsunami? Talk to an independent agent today about getting trip insurance, or click here for a quote.
